Anti Aging: Life Should Be About Living
Ours is a time obsessed with anti aging. And, think about it--why shouldn't we be? As my grandmother, who lived until she was 82 (with her last two years not very good at all), used to say, "Getting old is Hell". We all can clearly see that aging interferes with our lives in a big, big way. It can cut us down before we have fulfilled our hopes, dreams, and desires. Knowing that we only have so much time can inspire us to make terrible life decisions. It can leach the life out of our last years of existence through all sorts of physically and emotionally painful health deteriorations. Aging can cut your career way short, such as if you are a professional athlete who would love to compete for a far longer time. The impulse towards finding anti aging solutions is easy to understand. We sense that we don't live as long as we should, and for most of us we don't even live as long as we would like to. We have too much to do, too much we want to see, too many experiences to have. Just because we know that we would love to live longer, and to have our final years still filled with vitality and vivaciousness right up until the very last day, we should not go crazy with anti aging. As for right now, extending human life spans to even 200 years, as some scientists talk of, is the stuff of science fiction only. But to keep things real, at least for the present day, we can say that plenty of research indicates that the true average human life span should not be 80 years; it should in fact be 120 years. How are even the very-long-lived among us still losing 20 or 30 years off of what should be their natural lifespan? How is it that so many old people spend five, 10, 20 years in the last stage of their lives as cripples, as deranged, as needing to be filled full of drugs, as needing extensive external care? Why should anyone wish to "live" that way? If we can find the anti aging solutions that will enable us to naturally expect to live in good health to age 120, we certainly will. We are hungry for them. But what if they were already known about? We do, in fact, have the research under our hats that lets us know the solution to the puzzle. We now know that the four causes of premature decaying and dying are: excessive free radicals; glycation; methylation; and inflammation. We also know that if we get enough of these, they bring on a fifth cause: hormonal deregulation. The best anti aging solution that we have today is "eating right" as many will tell you. That is definitely important and definitely helps, but it's not enough to totally solve the aging problem and, besides, it's too hard to do as "perfectly" as is needed anyway. So the best solution is getting supplemental nutrients. And the ones that we need already exist and keep getting better. You just need to know where to find them!
